Get Involved

Enid can benefit from motivated community members interested in making our city more friendly to a healthy lifestyle. There are a number of options you can participate in to make Enid even more supportive of our community initiative to get fit!

Join a club

Join a club to meet other people who like to be physically active.  The Enid Running Club is just one of the opportunities in our community to live a healthier lifestyle.  Try square dancing with Enid's Levi's N Lace Square Dancing Club, or if you're interested in riding your bike contact the Chisholm Trail Peddlers for a group ride on your bike. There are clubs for all types of activities and group sports.  Can't find a club?  Start your own. Start your own walking group and pick a time and location to meet neighbors, friends or family there each day. Encourage your kids to start a club too.  They can meet two to three times a week to move more.

Partner Up

Partner with some of Enid's initiatives to develop trails, skateboard parks and other fitness facilities. You can also look for a Turning Point partnership to learn how to improve the health of your community or join the Oklahoma Fit Kids Coalition to learn how to improve the health of Oklahoma kids.

Join Your Planning Council

You can help Enid develop policy for city council or the planning district to incorporate sidewalks in new construction areas. You can also partner with local parks and recreation, home builder and real estate assocations to add paths.

Neighborhood Association

Work with your community or neighborhood association to repair exisiting sidewalks or lighting.  The group can also ask city and state agencies to post signs to discourage cars from driving fast through high pedestrian areas making them more safe to use.  Pedestrian crossing signs in communities can be posted to alert drivers.  The group might also start a campaign to encourage the use of helmets when riding bikes, in-line skates, scooters and motorized vehicles.
