Okay the dreaded day has arrived.  Weigh in day.  I'm ready although I don’t think I've lost as much as I wanted to.  I got on the scales in one of the other offices at work and the secretary said…"It's only one pound off of the Fitness Center scales".  I thought I would check it out and it wasn't pretty.  I was so bummed, I almost decided to quit.  All the food changes, workouts, the time management and pain to lose 3 pounds.  Not worth it!

 Week 6 of the biggest loser is over now! Where does the time go? I wish the weight came off as fast as the days go by! I have been doing a lot of self reflection this week. I have been obese ALL of my adult life! Even when I had lost 100+ pounds it was never enough to be just fat. I was OBESE. Then came MORBID
obesity! WHO KNEW!

Well it's the end of week one and I survived.

The dreaded day arrived…weigh in Monday.  People overflowed the weigh in room into the hallway. Participants and teams strategized their plans to become the Biggest Loser.  Whoa, what a way to start…there are classes available to help you learn to use the equipment, eat properly, read labels, exercise and even a boot camp provided by one of the sponsors, Regina Aguiano.  Everything you need to begin your inner skinny search is here.  I've been seeking a good cookbook for weight reduction.

Denny Price Family YMCA is ready to present its renovations and new facilities to the public after many months of work inside and outside the building.

There will be an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday to celebrate completion of the project.

 Each year Vance Air Force Base's Health and Wellness Center (HAWC) puts on a Biggest Loser Team Competition. This competition is based on the popular television show and challenges teams of four to weigh-in each month and work together to lose weight. The teams who lose the highest percentage each month win prizes and the team, and individuals, at the end with the highest percentage lost win final prize packages. This competition regularly sees more than 250 individuals participate. Anyone with access to Vance was eligible to join the competition Jan. 11 at the initial weigh-in.

 E-Lose It and Enid Running Club were proud to host one of Enid's own professional triathletes Dr. Amanda Stevens today. Dr. Stevens currently resides in Colorado Springs where she trains and is focused on the 2012 Olympic trials. A group of Enid Running Club members joined her on a 5 mile run followed by a meet and greet session where Amanda discussed nutrition, training and setting specific goals.

Spanish Potatoes
Servings: 8

Ingredients: 1 pound potatoes, cubed; 2 ounces bacon, chopped fine; 1/2 cup sweet peppers, chopped; 1 large tomato, chopped; 1/4 cup green olives, quartered; 1 small onion, sliced; 2 cloves garlic, chopped; 1 teaspoon chili powder; 3/4 cup chicken stock, 1 tablespoon capers; salt to taste; pepper to taste

Directions: In a large saute pan, cook bacon until well done and crisp. Drain fat from pan, add peppers; saute for 2 minutes. Next, add tomatoes, olives, onions, garlic, chili powder, potatoes, and chicken stock. Bring to a boil, and let simmer for 15 minutes or until potatoes are soft. Stir in capers. Let stand for 5 minutes to allow liquids to absorb. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Turkey Tacos

Servings: 4

Ingredients: 1 pound ground turkey; 1 tablespoon olive oil; 1/2 cup onion, peeled and chopped; 2 cloves garlic, minced; 1 teaspoon cumin; 1 teaspoon chili powder; 1/4 cup tomato sauce; salt to taste; pepper to taste

Directions: In a large saute panover medium heat, add olive oil. Once olive oil is heated, add ground turkey, onion and garlic, and saute for 5 minutes. Drain any fat from the pan, and return to heat. Add the remaining ingredients, and bring to a simmer. Let simmer for 8 minutes.
